The bride is the second of five granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Crone of Goldsboro. Mr. Crone was a founding partner of the CPA firm, Pittard, Perry and Crone. His wife, Ethel M. Crone, was a longtime office manager at the firm’s Goldsboro location. They are retired.
The bride’s parents, Laurel and Charles Sneed of Durham, are founders/directors of the Append Foundation in Research Triangle Park. They escorted their daughter and gave her away.
Moira Ryman Sneed of Brooklyn, the bride’s sister, was the maid of honor.
Daphne Parkhill, 11, of Brooklyn was the flower girl, and her brother, Angus Parkhill, 7, was the ringbearer.
Rita Sobral Campo of Brooklyn, the best friend of the groom, was the “best woman.”
A special tribute was made in the program to Dr. Anna Lisa Crone, who was a renowned scholar and a beloved aunt and mentor to the bride. Dr. Crone, a Goldsboro native, passed away in 2009.
Accomplished musician Israel Mejia, partner of the bride’s sister, provided acoustic guitar selections for the ceremony.
The bride is currently pursuing her Ph.D.in art history at the City University of New York (CUNY), while also working as an adjunct instructor of art history at Pace University and as a teacher in the education department at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)in New York City.
The groom is the son of retired politician, José Valentim Rosado, former mayor of Lagos, Portugal, and former governor of the Algarve Region of Portugal. His mother is Maria Guilhermina Viegas Rio Rosado, a retired teacher of French and Portuguese language. They reside in Lagos.
The groom came to New York City in 2004 to pursue advanced study at the School of Visual Art (SVA), where he completed his Master’s of Fine Arts degree in 2006. He has since established a career as a professional artist. Most recently, his work has been exhibited at the Andrew Roth Gallery in New York City and the Museu de Serralves in Porto, Portugal.
The bride wore a tea-length empire-style gown by Ralph Lauren in cream chiffon. She also wore a handmade vintage-style feather fascinator with a birdcage veil.
Robert Daniel of Goldsboro provided the floral design for the occasion that included bouquets for the bridal party and multiple floral arrangements used as centerpieces on the long Italian dining tables and as accents throughout the venue. His color palette was inspired by the rustic Tuscan ambiance of the setting. Mr. Daniel used a diversity of flowers in his compositions such as bright pink coxcombs with subtle shades of orange; white and blue daisies; white and fuchsia lilies; sweet Williams; and roses in soft shades of pink as well as traditional red. These were arranged in Mason jars and in antique vases belonging to the bride’s grandmother. The casual beauty and inventiveness of Mr. Daniel’s floral design sparked much picture taking and excitement.
After the ceremony, traditional American cocktails and Italian aperitifs were offered prior to being seated for a dinner of fresh seasonal dishes prepared by Aurora’s authentic Italian kitchen.
After dining, there were toasts, a cake-cutting and dancing until midnight. Each wedding guest received a small bottle of Port as a favor.
The couple will live in Brooklyn, and will frequently visit Lisbon and the Algarve region of Portugal. They also plan to visit North Carolina often — especially the Triangle and Goldsboro.
