Amanda Nicole Benton and Kevin David William Martin exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. at Hood Swamp Friends Church, with John M. Burchfield, uncle of the bride, officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dale and Tracey Benton of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Annelle Sanders of Wilmington, the late Charlie Benton of Wilmington, Frances Best Smith of Asheville and Jarvis B. Howell of Goldsboro.

She is a graduate of Wayne Country Day School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees in education. She was previously employed as a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Cape Fear Center for Inquiry in Wilmington, and is currently employed by Benton Truck Brokers Inc. in Goldsboro.

The groom is the son of David Martin and Margaret Martin both of Edinburgh, Scotland, and the grandson of Maisie Martin also of Edinburgh.

He is a graduate of Boroughmuir High School, and studied at Napier University both in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a professional soccer coach, and holds UEFA class A licensure. He has served as a team manager at the University of Edinburgh, and has coached several soccer clubs in Scotland.

The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents.

She wore a soft while all-over lace detailed gown with three-quarter-length sleeves and a V-neckline.

The trumpet-style skirt fell into a chapel-length train.

She wore baby’s breath in her hair, and carried a bouquet of gerbera daisies and baby’s breath.

Viviana Hernandez of Goldsboro was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kodee Cloninger of Bozeman, Mont.; Claire Gillespie of Edinburgh, sister of the groom; Kristin Nomides of Wilmington; and Whitney Nagel Pasquini of Charleston, S.C.

Sophie Gillespie, niece of the groom, was the miniature bride.

Richard Cook of Edinburgh, cousin of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Bruce Callan of Edinburgh and Johnathon Benton of Goldsboro, brother of the bride. Junior groomsman was Amanda’s nephew, Josiah Gonzales. The groom and his groomsmen wore traditional Scottish kilts.

A program of music was presented by guitarist, Mike Blair, and bagpiper Christopher Lewis.

The wedding was directed by Karolee Jones Myers.

Following the ceremony, a buffet dinner and dance reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents.

After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will reside in Goldsboro, N.C.

A bridal shower held Aug. 9 was co-hosted by Greta Davenport and Cheryl Warren at the home of Mrs. Davenport.

A rehearsal dinner for the bridal party, families and close friends was held Oct. 10 at Logan’s Steakhouse and was hosted by David Martin, the groom’s father.

Brooke Leigh Gray and John Marvin Wooten exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 17, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. John Howard officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Douglas Kim and Rhonda Kearney Gray of LaGrange and the granddaughter of the late Roland and Annie Long Gray of LaGrange and Ronald Lee and Joan Hicks Kearney of Goldsboro.

She is a 2009 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2014 magna cum laude graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising and a minor in business administration. She is employed at Strickland Insurance Brokers in Goldsboro.

The groom is the son of Marvin Graham and Joyce Johnson Wooten of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Elton Graham and Lillie Langley Wooten of Rocky Mount and the late John Herman and Marjorie Todd Johnson of Goldsboro.

He is a 2009 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, and was selected in the 2009 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. He attended East Carolina University. After completing his junior year, he was drafted in the 2012 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Oakland Athletics. In 2013, he was traded to the Washington Nationals, and is currently playing within the organization.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory Lazaro antique silk-faced satin trumpet bridal gown with an alencon lace bodice and scalloped V neckline. The trumpet skirt had a floral lace hem border and a chapel train. She wore a cathedral-length pencil edge veil, and carried a cluster styled bouquet consisting of white Duchess peonies, stephanotis and variegated lily grass. The stems of this elegant bouquet were wrapped in lace from her mother’s wedding gown.

Melissa Eason and Casey Vinson served as matrons of honor, while bridesmaids were Michelle Gay, Erin Gray, Jessica Gurley, Caroline Lewis and Lindsey Wooten.

Marvin Wooten served as best man.

Groomsmen were Ryan Eason, Chris Gosik, Walker Gourley, Blake Gray, Nolan Lancaster and Graham Wooten.

Junior groomsmen were Carter Kearney and Drew Kearney.

Ushers were Jake Bizzell, Josh Bizzell, Jacob Gray, Jason Gray, Jonathon Gray and Ethan Kearney.

She holds an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and an MBA from Meredith College.

The groom is the son of Jerry and Patricia Smith of Rockledge, Fla., and the grandson of Warren and Nell Smith of Linden, Tenn., and the late Myles and Dorothy Baldwin of Nashville, Tenn.

He holds an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of South Florida, a law degree from the University of Tennessee and a Masters of Sports Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

She wore an empire gown of white charmeuse featuring a hand embroidered lace shrug, and was complemented by a fingertip veil. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of lilies, roses and hydrangeas. Pinned to her gown was an antique turquoise pendent that belonged to the groom’s maternal grandmother.

Kathyrn Elizabeth Musselwhite of Wrightsville Beach was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mallory Caroline Cunningham of Raleigh; Kelly Elizabeth Floyd of Lumberton; Caitlin Wilson Hebble of Naples, Fla., cousin of the bride; Sara Hunter Hebble of Charleston, S.C., cousin of the bride; Jamie Melissa Simmons of Bel Air, Md.; and Katherine Elizabeth Waring of Florence, S.C. The bride wore a formal gown of handcrafted lace fashioned with a scoop neckline and off-the-shoulder cap sleeves that connected in back to create a deep V neckline.

The fitted bodice created a trumpet silhouette that gently flared at the bottom to a chapel-length train.

The bride accentuated the gown with a hand-embroidered Swarovski crystal detailed sash that tied at the back.

Her headpiece was a cathedral-length lace-edged veil.

Robin Irby of Wilson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Lindsey Haydt of Raleigh, sister of the groom, was matron of honor.

She accessorized her bridal look with a sheer, re-embroidered lace jacket with a high collar and short sleeves adorned with crystal beading and sequins, buttoning in the back. In her hair, she wore a two-tiered fingertip veil trimmed in lightweight organza.

The bridesmaids complemented the bride in A-line strapless sweetheart gowns made of rich royal blue taffeta.

The mothers of the bride and groom also chose rich taffeta gowns in plum and charcoal grey.

The bride wore a satin A-line gown with a cummerbund sash with box pleats on the skirt and a semi-cathedral train adorned with satin covered buttons and crystals.

She accessorized her bridal look with a sheer, re-embroidered lace jacket with a high collar and short sleeves adorned with crystal beading and sequins, buttoning in the back. In her hair, she wore a two-tiered fingertip veil trimmed in lightweight organza.

The bridesmaids complemented the bride in A-line strapless sweetheart gowns made of rich royal blue taffeta.

The mothers of the bride and groom also chose rich taffeta gowns in plum and charcoal grey.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party hosted by the bride’s parents at their home; a dinner hosted by the groom’s family and friends at Walnut Creek Country Club in Goldsboro; a bridal shower hosted by the Betty Johnson, Jennifer Johnson and Carol Stanley; a tea hosted by the maid of honor and bridesmaids; a dinner hosted by the groom’s father at the Country Squire Restaurant; and a bridal shower hosted by friends of the bride, Mary Keto and Stefanie Peterson.

A bridesmaids’ luncheon was hosted at Relish Café, and the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Casa Carbone the eve of the wedding.

The bride graduated from North Carolina State University and Campbell University School of Law.

The groom graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in civil engineering.

Both the bride and groom are employed in Raleigh, N.C.

After a honeymoon trip to Italy, the couple will reside in Raleigh.

The bridegroom is the son of Jeffrey and Sherry Barwick Smith of Dudley and the grandson of Peggy Outlaw Barwick and the late Morris Elwood Barwick of Mount Olive and Gene Holmes Smith and the late William Nelson Smith of Goldsboro.

The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Jonathan L. Best.

She wore a beautiful custom English net beaded ballgown by New York designer, Victoria Nicole. It featured a graceful sweetheart neckline with a beautifully structured bodice accented with pearls and crystals.

Her gown was accompanied by a Toni Federici chapel-length veil, which was complemented with a pearl tiara worn by her maternal grandmother on her wedding day.

She also wore an antique brooch that belonged to her maternal great grandmother on the bodice.

She carried a free-style bouquet of blush pink peonies, white roses, white cymbidium orchids, green spider mums and bells of Ireland.
